MPS is Going Green

Sustainability is an important priority at McMaster University and we in Media Production Services (MPS) are committed to doing our part. Two years ago, MPS began producing all course packs to students in both hardcopy and electronic formats. That same year, all paper course packs were now produced on paper that we sourced made from 100% post-consumer recycled waste, resulting in significant environmental savings.

MPS is also responsible for managing and supporting McMaster’s MFD Fleet Initiative (PrintSmart), and that includes supplying paper on all student-facing devices (30 or so). To expand the positive impact of switching to recycled paper, beginning last year, we’ve been supplying the same 100% post-consumer recycled waste paper on all McMaster student-facing devices.

The annual savings speak for themselves:

  • 63 trees
  • 61,495 gallons of water
  • 20,670 pounds of greenhouse gas emissions

MPS also provides sustainable paper options for business cards, course materials, menus, envelopes, and more.  To find out more, please check out the Additional Media/URL link!
